Less Than, Greater Than, or Equal To

Related Scripture:

But he gives greater grace. Therefore, he says: God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you. - James 4:6,10

Humility is defined as the quality of having a modest view of one's value or importance. It is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.

Genesis 1:27 states So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; He created them male and female. Is God weak?  Is God inferior?  Is God incapable? Is God anything less than excellent? The answers are clearly no.  So, if we are made in the image and likeness of an almighty, superior, fully capable, excellent God, then we should not think of ourselves any less. We should, however, think of ourselves with less frequency and with less importance (as opposed to others). We should value the creator (God) more than the creation (ourselves). When we do that, God gives us greater grace. When we don’t do that, God resists us. Let us boldly and confidently choose to be humble. Choose to let God exalt you instead of exalting yourself.

Questions to Ponder:

What challenges your pride the most?

What do you think you need to think “less of about yourself?
