No Separation…

Related Scripture:

“ For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my peace shall not waiver.”  Isaiah 54:10

…nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:39

Officiating football is not only difficult physically and mentally, but at times isolating and lonely. As a line of scrimmage official, I stand alone for much of the game and receive plenty of “feedback” from the all too nearby coaches, players, and fans.  When my decisions don’t go their way, I reach for inner strength through my faith and think about the two passages above.  Although with the many skills it takes to officiate a football game, the ultimate one is trusting in God’s love and tuning out the distractions and noise of the game.

Through the sacred scripture, God reminds us that his love is inseparable.  Though it may seem at times that we are alone and under constant scrutiny and verbal attacks, remember the covenant God has made with you and the strength he bestows upon your life.

As you prepare this summer for intensive rules study, practicing mechanics, and physical fitness goals, remember also to focus on the most important “pre-season” exercise: continuing to build a strong relationship with Christ.  This strength will get you through the difficult games and situations with confidence, control, and poise, no matter the situation.

Questions to Ponder:

Do I trust that God’s steadfast love will never leave me nor forsake me?

Do I believe that “NOTHING” can separate me from the love of God?
