The Best Mechanics Manual/Rule Book Ever!

2 Timothy 3:16-17 – “All scripture is God-breathed and isuseful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, sothat the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

In officiating, officials sink, or swim based on theirknowledge of mechanics and rules. Mechanics manuals inform officials where to be on the field or court so they’re in the proper position to make the call. They teach them how to view a play and cover general philosophy when it comes to officiating. Rule books guide officials to make sure a game is properly played and ensure one team does not gain an unfair advantage over the other. Officials who know the mechanics and rules and then use good judgement applying them emerge as the best of the best when it comes to officiating.

In life, we are fortunate to have available the best mechanics manual/rule book ever – the Holy Bible. The Bible consists of 66 books written by approximately 40 authors over a period of about 1,500 years (1,400 B.C to 95A.D.) It is the inspired word of God meaning the Holy Spirit chose the authors and led them to write exactly what they wrote.

The Bible contains all the guidance we need to fulfill our sole purpose in life – to Glorify God. It contains answers to all our questions and solutions to every problem. It provides the wisdom we need to make the right choices. It provides courage when we face a battle, and it provides peace and comfort during difficult times. It may be difficult sometimes to understand the Bible and if you are like me, you get busy and distracted and don’t take time to read and study the Bible daily. Don’t get discouraged. Pray and ask God to help you seek and understand his word. Remember this - simply put, the Bible coversit all. That truth should motivate us to try to read the Bible every day.

Questions to Ponder:

How often do you go to and rely on the Bible for your go to source for everything?
