Psalms 119:11--Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.
Rules are important in any game, as well as life. Committed Officials study the rules of the game as well as the mechanics of there position. A committed official does his best to be ready with whatever situation the game throws at him. Some fouls do not present themselves for years yet the committed official has the rule and penalty for the foul.
Psalms 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible. The first 17 verses deal with the word of God and how it molds the believer. The writer of verse 11 says that he has committed Gods word (Rules) to memory. He has done this to perform his very best in the game of life. Games are very seldom played flawlessly if that is even possible.
The same as life, things happen that we don’t expect. These things are often ugly and hit suddenly, out of the blue. In a game we try to be ready for anything. When a committed official works with a novice, it does not take long to recognize they have not put in the study time needed. The same is true of follower of Christ, especially when life gets difficult or ugly.
Questions to Ponder:
How long has it been since you studied Word as seriously as your rule book?
What difference do you think knowing the Word would make in your life?
