The Ultimate Year-End Banquet

ree

Related Scripture – “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?” John 14:2

Many sports official’s associations hold a banquet at the end of the season to celebrate and recognize their members for their efforts during the season on the field or court.  Officials come together to fellowship and to reflect back and look ahead to the next season.  Awards are often given to members – Official of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and the Iron Man Award for most games worked are just a few awards that come to mind.

As Christians, when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are assured that when our life on earth is over, we will be welcomed by God to the best year end banquet in the greatest banquet hall ever – Heaven.  We will experience unimaginable blessings forever!

One of my favorite teachers of the Bible, John MacArthur, describes Heaven this way -- “Heaven is the abode of God. It is uniquely God’s home. And though He is everywhere at all times, the very unique place of His residence, His abode, is heaven. Everything that is precious to us is in heaven. We saw that our Father is there, our Savior is now there, our fellow saints of Old Testament and New Testament times are there, our name is there, our inheritance is there, our reward is there, our treasure is there, our citizenship is there. Heaven is our home, and we saw that we’re only aliens in this life. Question to Ponder – What assurance do you have of spending eternity with our Lord, Jesus Christ?
