Our True Purpose

In officiating, we often see high intensity, frustration, and, unfortunately, at times, violence. It’s another reminder that we are in the last days of a fallen world. As followers of our Lord Jesus Christ, we see the sin and the sinful nature in all of us for what it is. However, we are ambassadors here to share the Good News of Salvation through Jesus Christ and shine a light where there is darkness. We have an incredible opportunity on and off the field to share Jesus with coaches, players, fellow officials, and yes, fans! I encourage you: let officiating be a place for your ministry for the Glory of God.

Next time you have that opportunity with someone, on or off the field, how can you display Christ and share the good news of Jesus with them?  Remember the Apostle Paul’s words to the church in Corinth in 2 Corinthians 5:20: “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”

Where has God placed you for His ministry?
