Engage God First

Related Scripture:

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” - Matthew 6:33

Our Prayer Pattern should be like our routines we do pre-season, game week, game day, and pre-snap. We engage those first before we ever hit the field. We need to engage God in prayer before we ever do anything else, even for Him.

In Matthew 6:32-33, Jesus acknowledges that we all have needs and desires. This is not bad or wrong. However, He created us to be different. We are aware of our needs and wants, but we seek Him first. It is important to know how to provide for your family, plan, and have the necessities. None of these are more important than engaging God first in prayer. He is the source. He is the way. He is the solution.

Have a plan for your officiating career. Prepare thoroughly for upcoming games. Seek after the best games, postseason assignments, and advancement to the next level. Do all these things after engaging God first - in prayer, meditation, bible study, godly counsel. He will provide according to His will, in His timing, to receive His glory.

Here’s an example of a Prayer Pattern (ACTS Method) that could be useful for you:

Adore: praise God for His character traits

Confess: tell God what’s affecting your relationship with Him

Thank: praise God for what He’s done

Supply: ask God to provide or meet your needs and desires
